Minecraft Wii U beats all Mario on Nintendo eShop Japan
In the first week of January, it was revealed that the PC version of Minecraft had surpassed 22 million in sales; the relatively nascent Wii U edition of the game is also quite strong as the game managed to beat anything offered on the Nintendo eShop.
Although not a local game for the Japanese region, the sandbox title gives a hard time to some of the biggest Wii U titles we have on the Japanese eShop.
Games that make it to the best seller list, while being beaten by our good old block title, include Splatoon, Dragon Quest X, and a number of Mario titles. Here is an overview of the ten best-selling games on the Nintendo eShop:
- Minecraft Wii U Edition
- Dragon Quest X
- Creator of Super Mario
- Pokemon Rumble U
- Mario Kart 8
- Art Academy: SketchPad
- Super Mario World
- Mother 2 (earth)
- Super Smash Bros on Wii U
That being said, there are other big names that these games have left behind in the list like Super Mario 3D World, PIkmin 3, Super Mario Bros, New Super Mario Bros U, and even Super Mario Galaxy.
What makes this all the more interesting is that the game doesn’t even use the second screen provided by the Wii U GamePad – something that has been essential to the success of a number of other titles on the Nintendo’s latest console.
Congratulations to the developers of Minecraft Wii U Edition, well done friends!
